NEWS: New Stand-up Festival Hitting Chicago in July

Comedy ExpositionHeads up Chicago, July 11-13th The Comedy Exposition of 2014 will be spreading throughout Lakeview, Wicker Park and Logan Square. Chicago-based stand-ups Katie McVay, Stephanie Hasz, Zach Peterson and Goodrich Gevaart along with comedy producer and freelance writer Matt Byrne have pulled together a stand-up showcase to fill the void of Just For Laughs.

This new, three-day comedy festival will host over 60 standup comics from Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago. There are over 20 shows scheduled, including well-loved national headliners Andy Kindler (Bobʼs Burgers, Maron, Comedy Central, Late Show with David Letterman), Jackie Kashian (Last Comic Standing, NPRʼs This American Life, Conan), and current Saturday Night Live cast member Brooks Wheelan.

The Comedy Exposition of 2014 is a stand-up comedy festival with a DIY ethos. The festival will bring together national headliners and comedians from around the country to celebrate Chicago’s blossoming standup scene. Other performers on deck include Aparna Nancherla (Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell), Sean OʼConnor (Comedy Central Half Hour), Shane Torres (Comedy Bang! Bang!), Sean Patton (Comedy Central Half Hour), and Ryan Singer (Bob & Tom, Comedy Central) appearing at some of Chicagoʼs finest venues, including Schubas, The Hideout, Township, The Annoyance Theatre, Comfort Station Logan Square, and several others.

Those interested in attending The Comedy Expo have a few options when it comes to ticketing: a limited number of $60 premium passes are available, which guarantee access to nearly all 20+ show happening across the festivalʼs 3 days, as well as a $25 showcase passes, which offer an affordable option to those looking to check out up-and-coming talent at the myriad showcase shows happening throughout the early evening each night of the festival.

Individual tickets to each nightʼs Main Event show, each one featuring some of the festivalʼs biggest names are also on sale, for $20 apiece.
